I was a junior in high school that fall and vividly recall both games, as both were heartbreaking losses.

LSU won due to a dropped TD pass that would have iced the game for UGA.

Clemson’s kicker, David Treadwell, broke our hearts for the second consecutive year nailing a last second FG.

The magical home field advantage had clearly left Athens by that time as UGA could no longer count on Sanford to give us a slight advantage.

It can be argued that David Shula ended that in 1985. We stopped believing that we were unbeatable at home.
