Dear Mr. Todd Blackledge,
One of the things we at The Grit Tree enjoy most about your work is your weekly “Taste of the Town.” Athens has dozens of great options to choose from, but we want to recommend one of our personal favorites for this weekend, the Blind Pig Tavern.
Blind Pig Tavern
485 Baldwin Street
Blind Pig Tavern is a local favorite in Athens. Perhaps the busiest day of the year for Blind Pig is the National Signing Day, where hundreds of patrons gather to watch results come in and excite one another on the great things to come.
In our opinion, it’s hard to find a better place to eat, drink and be merry in Athens. From burgers to wings, there’s something on the menu for all to get excited about. We don’t want to get too deep into it (since that’s your job, after all), but we did want to offer a few suggestions.
As an appetizer, do yourself a favor and get an order of Fried Dill Pickles. They’re the best you’ll ever eat. Period. Wash it down with either a cold beer or a Coca-Cola, either way is good for us. Then order one of the best burgers in the South. Our favorites are the Fat Elvis, the Fat Merv and the Sunday Brunch. The Fat Merv is the best, but the others are pretty stinkin’ good. If you want to really punish yourself, top it all off with a homemade Georgia Peach Cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Then go take a nap and dream of our Dawgs beating the brakes off of USCe.
We look forward to having you back in Athens and hope that your time in God’s country is great!
