In the fast paced , 24 hour news cycle, Twitter world we live in, having a semblance of perspective and rational thought on the big picture is something that is often missing.
First some perspective on the South Carolina loss and the rest of the season.
How bad was this loss? It was bad. No two ways about it. It was bad to get embarrassed on national TV in a marquee game (again). It was bad that of all the people to give us this national embarrassment, it was Steve Spurrier. South Carolina has won 4/6 and three in a row. It’s like the early 1990s again and South Carolina is the new Florida. That is the most damning fact.
Even the always positive Corbindawg can’t muster a way to polish this turd. I wish I could. But for all the fans out there I have read proclaiming us to be finished, ease it up. Most of us said before the seasons started we would lose to South Carolina. OK, that’s happened, and it happened in grand and glorious fashion. Bitching and moaning thought the rest of October ain’t gonna solve it.
We have a bye week. We have Kentucky, then the Gators. November’s slate of games are as easy as September’s. This season comes down to 1 game-the Cocktail Party. I will not be delusional to think we can make it back to Atlanta, but we have 6 games left. We will be heavily favored in 5 of them. We have three weeks to fix some problems before Florida. We had Saturday night and all day Sunday to bitch and moan. Let’s move on. A victory over Florida and the debacle Saturday night might not be forgotten, but it might be forgiven.
But let’s, as fans, have try and have perspective about life. I am pissed about Saturday. Several people asked me about it yesterday and I just changed the subject. I ignored text and phone calls to avoid talking about it. But doesn’t anyone really think Saturdays loss hurt them worse than the boys in Red and Black? As much as we want to get on the coaching staff, they put in countless hours and spend time away from their families. The outcome of games don’t affect us near as much as it does others.
What is worse than your team and alma mater being embarrassed on National TV is seeing the behavior of our fanbase after the game. It is sickening to see people act a damn fool. When I woke up yesterday morning, I didn’t have to deal with vandalism to my house like Christian Robinson did. Some redneck, White trash retard didn’t egg my house. How about Aaron Murray’s day? A day after being embarrassed in front of millions of people in prime time, he learns that his father was diagnosed with cancer. So how was your Sunday again? I bet you your shitty day didn’t compare to these two.

It’s just the same old script….and it’s getting very old. Very difficult to stay positive when it’s the same thing year after year. Nothing has changed, nothing will change. We are quickly becoming the 3rd best team in the East.
But yes, I feel for Aaron. Prayers to him and his family.
Oh yeah and by the way… Aaron lives with CRob.
10-2 beating a bunch of mediocre, unranked teams and then losing to the ranked teams we play(just like last season) bodes very poorly for the future. We give Boise and some others schools he’ll about only having to get up to play 1 or 2 games per year yet what do we do when we have a similar opportunity? Starting next year, the schedule gets ugly. We’ll have 8 or 9 games that we could pretty easily lose. North Texas, UK and App State look like the only sure W’s. 2013 will be the end of Richt and this staff.
Let’s remember in 2007 Georgia was embarrassed much the same way at Tennessee – 35-14, sixth game of the season, after losing a close game to SC a couple of weeks before. It may have been wakeup call we needed, as Georgia went on to win out and go to the Sugar Bowl, with a final standing of #2 in the Nation.
Let’s have hope and support this team and coaches. Negative fans are also hurting recruiting.
There wouldn’t be so many negative fans if Richt’s record versus ranked teams hadn’t become so bad in recent years. Our rivals use that against us in recruiting much, much more than anything our fans can say. Truly elite players want to win big and play for championships…not play in Chick-Fil-A and Outback Bowls.
I think our players don’t want to settle for CFA or Outback Bowls. I think they want to play on the bigger stage than you do. I doubt anyone wants to more than the players.
Aaron Murray got the news last week, before the game. Thanks for calling out our fan base for our embarrassing and chldlike response to this game, and for pointing out how much harder this must be for the team and coaches. Whatever happened to being the “12th man” on the team, as a fan, instead of a bunch of whiny and judgmental db’s

it hurts like 3 losses but it’s still just 1…what really hurts is Spurrier would rather beat UGA than eat when he’s hungry…it took him a few years and now he’s got us under control again…I wanted him to stay in the NFL but I didn’t get what I wanted…
the close win over an average Tenn team made me hold my breath on this South Carolina game…we all knew this could happen and the SEC East is not an easy days work…
oh well…it’s Nick Saban’s world anyway and the rest of us are just along for the ride…
UGA is third in the East behind SC and FL. Next year when Tennessee developes a defense, Dawgs will be fourth. Then in two years when Missouri wakes up, Dawgs will be fifth. Either improve or get left behind.
I doubt you are even a Georgia fan, but rathera troll. However, if you are a Georgia fan then you are the worst ones. How do you know we are behind Florida? The game hasn’t been played yet. And Tennessee will fire Dooley by the end of the month, so how do you know that they will surpass next year? This kind of ignorant comment is excatly why UGA has the worst fan base in college football.
To many yankees have infiltrated our fan base-we need to start accepting Georgia kids to UGA instead of yankees just because they can pay out of state tuition

Mark Richt has been a good and at times very good football coach for Georgia. That said, I don’t think he’s the coach that will take this team to a national championship. I think Georgia will remain completive while he’s the coach and will garner their share of top athletes, but wining the East every once in a while and going to some good bowl games is all you can really expect. There seems to be something that is lacking in the next step. That’s what Saturday’s utter defeat is a symptom of. That was what the loss in the last bowl game was, the loss in the SEC championship game was, and the bowl game before that. There are some other examples as well. I use to feel that even if Georgia wasn’t favored in a big game, I knew they would play well, and I knew there was always a good chance the Dawgs would come out on top. I’ve been watching them since the 60’s. I no longer believe that. I hope we win in Jacksonville, but even if we do, it will not change this inevitable cycle that’s come to pass.
He led us to 13-1 in 2002; LSU went 13-1 in 2003 and won national title.
UGA went 10-2 in 2005, lost both games by combined 5 points; LSU went 10-2, won SEC title and lost two games in OT and had to back its way in to play for national title.
In 2007 UGA didn’t win it’s division but was at the time best team in football and ranked #4 going into final weekend. In 2011 Alabama didn’t win it’s division but was best team at the time and played for it.
So, basically Richt has come as close as anyone can without winning. Bad luck and a few untimely losses here and there has kept us from it. So I think he can, as he has come oh so close so many times before.
