I’ll Take It

I know it, you know it, and the American people know it.  That Vanderbilt game was UGLY.

The Dawgs running game, although at times Samuel”s” looked good, was really missing Crowell.

The two best receivers on the team are freshmen.  The best running back is also a freshmen.  After the Boise State game, if you told me “Corbindawg, UGA will be in the driver’s seat for the SEC East heading to Jacksonville and be 5-2”, I would have said you a crazy.  I had a sinking feeling that by now, Rodney Garner would be the Interim Head Coach.

But that is the case.  UGA is heading into the bye week the front runners to win the East, especially now that South Carolina has lost Lattimore to an unfortunate injury.

We have won 5 in a row.  Against crappy teams, yes.  But I would rather win a boring game like we did against the Mississippi schools than lose exciting games against South Carolina.  Vanderbilt was tougher than it should have been, and it was an ugly game.

But the Gators aren’t very good, and I think Auburn has overachieved more than any team in the country.  IF the Dawgs can take care of business on the banks of the St. Johns River, we’ll be in good shape now and in 2012.

It hasn’t been pretty, but this time a year ago, the Dawgs were 3-4, 2-3 in the SEC, lost to COLORADO, and had no hope for contending for anything other than hopefully getting to a bowl game.  So, yes, the special teams have been an epic fail.  The offensive line can’t close out a win late in the game.  But the Dawgs are winning, and I’ll take that every single week.

I’ll take any W. Close games including ugly ones keeps the interest of both fans and the athletes. It keeps them on their toes and will try to improve weekly. In 2008, I think the fans and athletes felt a little overconfident and entitled resulting to that Alabama game disaster.

Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem with Grantham’s strategy of placing 13 players on the field and then bringing 2 off? It seems like it takes him forever to call the play. Vandy burned us a few times by running a quick count when our defense was clearly not ready. If I was Florida I would be ready for this and exploit it.

Pretty much the 2007 season until after the Vandy game…
