Wednesday Links

Happy Wednesday folks, hope it’s off to a good start. Here are a few links to get you started today.

The Hartman Fund deadline has passed, and initial word is that contribution totals are similar to last year. I guess that’s good and bad, depending on your donation. Of course, official word won’t be released for a while, but numbers look very similar to 2007 and 2009.

USC’s coming day in “Court” won’t be pleasant. They go before the NCAA Infractions Committee on Thursday. I know they’re glad that the Laner is one of their spokespeople now.

Make that spandex look good, Mr. Human Highlight Reel.

One of the thugs suspected in the murder of former UConn player Jasper Howard has been released after posting bail.

If you’ve already bought your special someone a “snuggie” and are looking for more good ideas, I would highly recommend the “smitten mitten”. Perfect for walks in the park or on the beach, for holding hands in the movies, or for enjoying your favorite Lifetime movie on a Friday evening, the smitten mitten is sure to make your bride blush with happiness.

Andy Staples has re-ranked the 2007 recruiting class based by on-field production. By his ranks, our two biggest rivals rank 1 and 3. And no, we do not make the Top 10 cut by his rankings. But Boise comes in at #2.

It’s just not smart to bet on basketball. I never bet on basketball, outside of a few pools during the Big Dance. But individual games based on points, that’s probably the worst bet you can place. And by the way, if I had bet on the Zags to cover, words wouldn’t describe how mad I would be. Just don’t do it.

And finally, Dr. Saturday talks a little more on one of my favorite topics, Conference expansion. No, Arkansas would not be smart to leave the $$$ of the SEC. And while I would love to see Clemson join the SEC East and shuffle things around a little, I doubt very seriously that it will happen anytime soon. Like, within 15 years or so. There’s just too much money in the SEC to make any current participant leave. But isn’t it fun to debate?

Enjoy your Wednesday, the weekend will be here before you know it.
