Ok, finally that’s over…

Thankfully, Grantham-watch has come to an end, at least for now.

Todd Grantham will be remaining at Georgia, turning down the offer to be the New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator, keeping Sean Payton from being one of the most hated men in the state of Georgia.

I mean, can you imagine if Grantham had been lured to NOLA? Payton is already one of the most disliked individuals in the NFL if you are a Falcons fan. Imagine if the same guy had come into Georgia and poached the second-most popular assistant coach in UGA history (maybe) since Erk.

It does not matter much if Grantham’s flirtation with the NFL hurt of help late recruiting. Honestly, Montravius Adams was headed to Auburn once Rodney Garner left, but the trade-off was getting Bellamy – so it’s pretty much a wash-out as far as that goes.

Regardless – Todd Granthem will be back as defensive coordinator. But odds are that NFL overtures may come again. If there is a silver lining, it is that Georgia can come up with a plan to better orchestrate Grantham’s exit and groom a replacement if he opts to head to the NFL in the future.

In other words, not grace the Bulldog Nation with CWM, the Sequel.

Need u to explain why Willie Martinez’s name is being used in defense of TG’s flirt w NFL? Martinez should never been hired bc was qualified for position but promoted bc of personal relationship w CMR! I don’t agree w Bellamy wiping out Adams! MA was a top 5 player in country IMO & we needed him after turning away Kelsey Griffin! I do however agree w being able to prepare for Grantham’s departure! Gotta be straight-up! No questions unanswered or need to lie-by-omission & possible replacements need to be qualified!

Garner was our recruiting coordinator. What a mess he left the DL situation. RN, Adams, Lawson, Johnson, Foster, Kamara, Tunsil, Harvey are all difference makers if not game changers and we did not sign a damn one! And don’t even go there with the Kelsey Griffin fiasco. Next years class will be much smaller and if I were the RC linemen should be the primary focus. The difference between Ala and Ga. It’s the LINE OF SCRIMMAGE.

We came up at least two guys short with our OL recruitment. If we don’t soon develop depth at those positions, we won’t completely catch up to the elite programs. You’re correct, we have to make the OL a priority in next year’s class, something we’ve never done in the Richt era.

Be honest with yourselves UGA is a second rate program. We have no hope. Nothing will change until we get a winner for a coach!

well…we’re heading into what..year 13 of the Richt era. That’s a good bit of time to get the program to where you want it to be.Of course, the Saban Express has a lot of programs searching for the same answer.Bob Stoops forever changed the expectation horizon when he won the NC in his second year at Oklahoma.

I’ll always support the Dogs but I believe the program may well be plateaued at 9-3 or 10-2 for a while.A lot of schools would do anything to get to that level so it is all relative.I hope for better days but I won’t kid myself about getting to the top and being relevant in the Championship picture.
