Saturday night was a turd, no doubt. We weren’t ready for what SC had to offer, and simply put they looked like from play 1 that they wanted it more. We’re probably the 3rd best team in the SEC East this year. No, that’s not what we as fans want, but it’s what we’re getting. Who knows, we haven’t lost to Florida yet (as many seem to think), and there is still a chance we’ll be in Atlanta first weekend of December.
What I’m trying to say I guess, is that whether we beat UF (or anyone else on our schedule for that matter) really isn’t as big a deal in life as what many out here seem to be making it out to be. Sure, as fans we’re tired of being mediocre. That’s exactly what UGA has been the last few years, a mediocre SEC team. But is it worth cursing coaches and players, egging houses, and letting one loss ruin your week?
These coaches and players actually care about this loss as much as you do, believe it or not. I bet your Sunday was better than Aaron Murray’s. I also bet it was better than Mark Richt’s or Mike Bobo’s. Don’t be a fairweather fan. I mentioned a few weeks back that the UGA fanbase was starting to tick me off; I’m downright disappointed in a certain segment of Bulldog Nation right now. Be better than this Georgia. The sun came up this morning, depending on where you live (it’s a little cloudy in middle GA today, but I’m certain it’s out there.) You can complain, you can be upset that we are not a great team like Alabama, but the hate that has been spewed the last 24 hours has really been disappointing for this Dawg to hear. As Christian Robinson said in a tweet: “I thought we were in this together…”
