Sal Paolantonio: I am Sorry

I posted earlier today about men’s hoops, and I incorrectly called out Sal Paolantonio, when in fact, it was Jeremy Schaap to blame for tabloid journalism.

I would have bet good money it was Sal Pal.  I have gone 8 years believing this untruth to be fact.

I must say I can hold a grudge, it is a character flaw.  If you piss in my cornflakes, I will remember it.  Everytime I have seen Sal Pal for the last eight years, I’ve thought “That SOB is the one who ruined Jim Harrick.”

When in fact it was Jeremy Schaap the whole time.  I watched that interview, but I was in high school.   I have never been a fan of Schaap; it must be my subconscious trying to correct me.

Bobby Knight isn’t a fan of Jeremy Schaap either.

I am not above admitting my mistake and owning up.  More importantly, I would like to say I am sorry to Sal Pal.  I like your work, but have refused to admit it because of this one instance that didn’t even happen.

Mea culpa.

“Everytime I have seen Sal Pal for the last eight years, I’ve thought ‘That SOB is the one who ruined Jim Harrick.’”

Even with the correction from Sal to Schaap, I hope that last part is sarcasm.

I’m fairly certain it was sarcasm. Not even corbindawg thinks that Coach Harrick was innocent of all wrongdoing.

Ruined Georgia basketball? Yes. Jim Harrick was dirty before he came to Athens.

Harrick ruined Harrick. Schapp just pointed it out. Which was, in fact, part of his job. The blame for Jim Harrick’s demise rests squarely on his own shoulders. No one else. You can’t blame other people for your own bad behavior. Harrick’s wrongdoing had negative consequences for him, his employer and the alumni. Those consequences were made worse by the fact that he handled the situation badly once it was pointed out. Jim Harrick did us all a major disservice. We should be, and most of us are, glad he is gone. The fact that he was a good coach did nothing to change that. The only thing that bothers me about the Harrick fiasco is that Michael Adams escaped unscathed. He deserved the boot as well.

Doe anybody have that video of when Schaap was waiting on Harrick after practice by his car or something and Jim jumped all down him. Freaking hilarious.
